Ely, NV

Back in January, we went to visit Jaron's parents in Ely, NV. Ashley, Garth, and Laura went the same weekend. We didn't know what to expect, but figured it would be a good trip away from Cache Valley.

The drive was boring. It was night time and dark, and there was nothing once we passed Wendover. Really, nothing. I think we passed one rest area in 3 hours. Boring drive. Well, until Kaden got sick, that is. Thanks a ton to Ashley for trying and clean up his puke (I didn't ask her to, she just jumped in!) and putting up with his whining in the back. We finally got there and crashed.

The next morning the guys went to help someone move and the girls just hung out. Kaden played in a box, and even napped in it!

Then we went to Cave Lake to see snow sculptures. The lake was totally frozen over, and there were a lot of people ice fishing. The sculptures weren't done, but there was still fun stuff to do. They had a bowling area set up, and Kaden LOVED it! He kicked the ball all the way down the lane, then ended up kicking over the pins because the ball didn't knock them over.

He also got to golf.

And of course, who wouldn't want to play "Chicken" on a frozen lake? Leave it to Garth and Ashley!

They had a wagon ride that took us around the lake.

Imagine, all this running around on a frozen lake and no one got hurt.

Until....

We went to see the Nevada Northern railroad. It's a 100 year old steam engine. We got free cake, and got to see the train move a bit, which Kaden LOVED.

Of course, all these pictures were taken before Jaron fell on the ice and broke two ribs. Click here for that story if you missed it.

Thank goodness grandma and grandpa had Mega Blox. The boys had to share them, but I think they did ok. This is the "scary dog" that Garth built.

Thanks for letting us visit! Jaron's dad was there, but he's the only one who remembered a camera, so he was taking all the pictures.
