Moab

We went to Moab last weekend with my brother and his family.  It was very cold and rainy, but we still had fun.  Yes, in June, it was really cold.  I can't even tell you how many people said we were crazy for going there in June because of the heat.  Well, now you all know, it is possible for it to only get up to 65 degrees in Moab in June.

We got there Friday night.  It was sprinkling just a little bit, but we got tents set up pretty quick.  It didn't really start raining until early the next morning.

Saturday morning, since everything was wet and it looked like there were more storms coming in, we did a quick breakfast and just hung around to see if storms would pass.  It finally started to clear up around lunch time, so we decided to pack up and eat lunch in Arches.  We stopped at the Balanced Rock picnic area.  It was beautiful weather and we were excited to get out and hike.

(Pictures aren't great because they're from our cell phones.  Jaron accidentally left the real camera at work.)

Kaden tried to put on his own sunscreen.

Our first arch was Skyline.  It's a really quick walk to the arch.

Kaden loved climbing all over the rocks

Kaden had to go to the bathroom "REALLY BAD."  So he ran up and down this rock while we waited.  Then it started raining.  Then it started hailing and we were still waiting.  Luckily it was his cousin we were waiting for and she let us in so he could do his business.  I discovered he really didn't need to go very bad.

The entry to Devils Garden

The kids had a much needed nap while we waited out the storm.

The storm finally passed and we were able to hike around Devils Garden.

This is a sand hill we used to play on as kids.  Too bad it was way to wet.
It was finally dry enough on Sunday to roast marshmallows and make s'mores.
Sunday morning, we headed out to Dead Horse Point.  Wow, that's a big hole!  The picture doesn't do it any justice.
Later we headed into town to check out Jaron's old house and neighborhood.  Then we stopped by the Colorado River to let Kaden throw rocks in.  I think that might have been the highlight of the trip for him.  He was constantly begging to do it!

Somewhere in there we also went to Fiery Furnace.  Blogger is really frustrating me now, so I don't care to try and upload another picture and try to get it in the right place.

We had lots of fun and look forward to more hopefully dry camping advenures this summer

Ahhh I love Moab. We are "planning" on going over July 4th weekend and people tell us we are crazy for going then too. Looks like you guys had a great time. Pictures look pretty good for being cellphone pics.

Oh the memories! I'm impressed that your phone does pictures that well. It looks like a great time despite mother nature messing with you. Wish we could have joined you. My kids would have loved it!

Yeah, our phones do good outside, but definitely not inside (if you recall from Kaylee's birthday)
